Annapurna Circuit Trekking was opened for foreign trekkers in 1977. Starting from 1400m elevation the trek reaches 5,416m at Thorong La pass, offering you enough chances to explore the diverse terrains and landscapes along with the varieties of floras and faunas in one trip. You can also witness the splendid views of some of the highest peaks of world including Dhaulagiri (7th highest), Manaslu (8th highest), and Annapurna I (10th highest). Additionally, a trekker can explore rural mystic villages of Gurung and Magar communities residing in the Annapurna Region and learn about their spiritual connection with high Himalayas.
Another major attraction of Annapurna Circuit Trek is sacred temple Muktinath. This is a famous pilgrimage site of both Hindu and Buddhist devotees. Muktinath is believed to be one of the thousands incarnation of lord Vishnu. If you take a bath in chilled water of 108 taps in Muktinath, all of your sins will be washed away and you will get salvation. If you don’t like to take bath in chilled water, there is another famous point of Annapurna Circuit Trek, Tatopani that offers chance to take bath in natural hot water springs. The normal Annapurna Circuit Trekking is considered as a moderate trekking however it may include some strenuous walking route too. The trekking season also plays vital role in difficulty level of Annapurna Circuit Trek. If you trek in offseason like monsoon and winter the trek gets tougher.
Additionally, as you are trekking to high altitude you may feel some breathing problem and other mountain sickness if you lack enough preparations and guideline. The Annapurna Circuit Trek starts from Kathmandu at 1400m elevation and reaches its highest point at Thorong La pass that lies at 5,416m altitude from sea level. Then the elevation gradually decreases till Pokhara reaching 840m and again increases to 1400m in Kathmandu towards the end of the trek.
