A climb to Gokyo Ri presents dramatic view of world’s tallest peaks – Mt. Everest (8,848m), Lhotse (8,516m), Makalu (8,585m) and Cho Oyu (8,201m). Below the Gokyo Ri is Nepal’s largest rubble covered Ngozumpa glacier stretching out of Cho Oyu Himal. Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu (1,350m/4,428ft) and transfer to the hotel

Day 02: Kathmandu: Sightseeing and trek preparation day

Day 03: Fly from Kathmandu to Lukla and trek to Phakding (2,651m/8,7ft): minutes flight, 8km, 3 – 4 hours trek

Day 04: Phakding to Namche Bazaar (3,440m/11,270ft): 11km, 5 – 6 hours

Day 05: Acclimatization Day at Namche Bazaar (3,440m/11,284ft)

Day 06: Namche Bazaar to Dole (4,200m/13,776ft) – 5 – 6 hours

Day 07: Dole to Machhermo (4,400m/14,432ft) – 4 – 5 hours

Day 08: Macchermo to Gokyo Lake (4,700m/15,416ft) – 4 – 5 hours

Day 09: Hike to Gokyo Ri (5,360m/17,880ft) – 4 – 5 hours

Day 10: Trek to Lunden (4,300m/14,104ft) via crossing Renjo La Pass (5,340m/17,843ft) – 6 – 7 hours

Day 11: Lunden to Thame (3,800m/13,464ft) – 4 – 5 hours

Day 12: Thame to Namche Bazaar (3,440m/11,283ft) – 4 – 5 hours

Day 13: Namche Bazaar to Lukla (2,800m/9,184ft) – 6 – 7 hours

Day 14: Fly back to Kathmandu

Arrival in Kathmandu, our airport representative will receive you and transfer you to the designated hotel. These are no planned activities for the trek so check into the hotel and take rest. 

Evening: attend farewell dinner hosted by NEFA Treks in typical Nepali restaurant with cultural shows.

Today we spend our day exploring the four sacred and significant sites in Kathmandu valley tha includes Kathmandu Durbar Square, Swayambhunath, Boudhanath Stupa and Pasphupatinath Temple.

After early morning breakfast, we will be transferred domestic airport for a scenic flight to Lukla. The flight to Lukla is so adventurous that it is itself a lifetime experience. The airfield is surrounded by lofty hills and difference between the two ends of the runway is about an exceptional 60 m only. Once we reach Lukla, we meet our rest of the crew and start trekking towards Phakding with the view emerald landscapes and Himalayan peaks.

After breakfast, we follow the Dudh Koshi River and climbs through Himalayan pine and cedar forest to the prosperous village of Namche Bazaar. The final 3 – 4 hours ascent is quit challenging as it is steeply uphill. Namche is an administrative hub of entire Khumbu region and it surprisingly offers ATMs, restaurants, bakeries, cyber cafes and luxurious hotels.

Today is first scheduled acclimatization day on our trek. To acclimatize, we will hike to Syangboche Airport (3,700m) – the highest airport in the world and then visit nearby Everest view hotel for superb view of Everest, Lhotse, Ama Dablam, Tawache etc. On the way back, we explore Sherpa cultural museum and Everest Photo Gallery.

The trail from Namche to Kyangjuma is relatively easy and from there onward, the trail climbs steeply out of the valley through lush rhododendron forests. We walk past many Yak pasture land, summer settlements and pass the village of Tongba (3,950m) and Gyele (3,960m) to reach Dole. There are very few lodges at Dole so you cannot be selective. The entire backed-up with the glorious view of Khumbila and Tawache (6,542m).

First we climb to Lambara at 4,220m and then to Luza at 4,360m before climbing steeply through brush juniper. Walking through Kharkas, we start climbing along the side of the valley, high above the river and cross sandy spurs before reaching Macchermo (4,410m). In the year 1974, Yeti killed three Yaks and attacked local women which was the strong evidence of existence of Yeti in the region.

After breakfast, we climb a ridge for superb view of valley to Kantega and walk towards Cho-Oyu (8,201m). Beyond the ridge, the valley widens out and we walk through Pangka (4,390m) down towards riverbank before making a climb to the terminal moraine of the Ngozumpa Glacier. We climb steeply to the Ngozumpa glacier and walk alongside the stream to the first small lake (4,650m).

Today we make a pre-sunrise climb to Gokyo Ri to avoid mid-morning cloud and strong winds. We will wake up early in morning and ascend (1 – 2 hours) up to the vantage point of Gokyo Ri to catch surreal view of Cho-Oyu, the Gyanchung Kang, Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, Cholatse and the Tawache. Below is vast rubble-covered Nogzumpa glacier stretching out from Cho Oyu – the largest glacier in Nepal!

Today is the day that we have been desperately waiting for. The crossing of the Renjo La Pass will be quite strenuous but the effort is well-compensated by the dramatic views of Himalayas and high valleys. The landscapes on the trail progressively resembles to the Tibetan valleys beyond the border. On the way, there is high chance to meet Tibetan traders descending from the Nangpa La Pass that leads through Himalayas from Tibet.

After breakfast, we will walk down to Thame with tantalizing views of snowy peaks. About 150m uphill of Thame is a Thame monastery which is set amongst of many monks and Lay people house. The monastery is located on the side of the hill overlooking the valley. In spring, we can celebrate Mani Rimdu festival with locals (middle of May).

Today we continue our trek through relatively fat and easy descanting trail, scheduling our first resting point at Thamo.

We retrace our step back to Lukla following the bank of Dudh Koshi River and passing several Sherpa villages. From Cheplung, we make a final 45 minute climb to reach Lukla.

Today you will bid farewell to the mountain and return back to Kathmandu with 35 minute amazing mountain flight. Once in Kathmandu, you will be driven back to hotel. Evening: Attend farewell dinner to celebrate successful completion of the trip!

Your adventure trek in Himalayas comes to an end today. Our airport representative will drive you back to Tribhuvan International Airport for your final departure.
