Paragliding in Pokhara

Tandem Paragliding
You can enjoy tandem paragliding; in which you are seated in a separate harness in front of the pilot where you can sit care-free and enjoy your surroundings. You can talk with pilot and even ask them to teach how to paraglide. It is safer then independent paragliding as you will be guided by expert gliders who have years of experience in the sky of Pokhara.
Paragliding yourself
If you are an expert glider and want to fly on your own, you have to obtain permit from the civil aviation office in Pokhara. The permit will cost you USD. 45 which is valid for 15 days. For permit, you need to submit a passport photocopy, visa photocopy, photo of yourself, proof of insurance and your paragliding license.
Paragliding Route
The standard paragliding kick-off location is from Sarangkot (a hilltop village nearby Pokhara). It then flies above the Sarangkot for a while and then move towards Pokhara before making spiraling acrobatics on descent to Phewa Lake next to Lakeside.
Best Month and time of the day
Paragliding in Pokhara is best during (June to July) and (September to November); when the weather is stable and views are clear.
In Pokhara, there are 3 flights a day, 7 days a week: - 10:30 AM, 12 PM and 2 PM.
How safe is it to fly in Pokhara?
Paragliding in Pokhara is very safe as long as you follow the rules and regulation. Actually it is as safe as driving.
More than 250 paragliding flights are performed a day during peak season. You have reserve chute and a large lake for safety. However it is an extreme adventure sport and some risks are definitely involved. Extra caution is needed during take-off and landing if there is sudden change in win.
Itinerary
Once you land at the Tribhuwan International Airport, complete all customs formalities and meet up with our representative. Look for signboards of your name. They will escort you to your hotel where you can rest after the flight. In the afternoon / evening, you can visit our office for a briefing on the paragliding tour.

After breakfast at the hotel, head to TIA to catch a morning flight to Pokhara. You’ll be able to see the various peaks of the region including Annapurna, Fishtail, Dhaulagiri and more on this scenic half hour trip. Once you land at the lakeside city, your luggage will be transferred to a hotel. As for you, you can begin the hike to Sarangkot. This pleasant short trek will take around 3-4 hours depending on your pace. You will get a good taste of both the culture and scenery around Pokhara during this venture.

Wake up early to enjoy the breathtaking sunrise view from Sarangkot. After breakfast, have a short drive or trek up to the flying station. You’ll have a number of options to choose from, ranging from Solo flights to Tandem flights, and standard 20-30 min flights to longer cross country flights. Of course, a flight permit will be necessary for solo flying, which you can obtain from the Civil Aviation Office. Regardless of the choice you make, soaring high alongside the birds and enjoying bird’s eye views of Annapurna, Manaslu, Fishtail and Phewa Lake and Pokhara beneath you is sure to be an unforgettable experience. This thrilling experience will surely leave you longing for more. After you land, our representative will meet up with you, complete all procedures and transfer you back to your hotel. For the rest of the day, you can relax at the hotel or explore the lakeside city on your own.

Enjoy the last morning of the trip with breakfast at the hotel. Afterwards, you can check out of the hotel and catch a bus or take a return flight to Kathmandu. If your trip isn’t over yet, then the itinerary can be extended to more days and include city tours or other longer treks.
